WXR: what is it?

Through the WordPress version 2.1 introduces a new standard import and export WXR (WordPress eXtended RSS). This is an extension of the RSS to support other information, such as classes.

The WXR presented ideal for transport from WordPress to WordPress. One example is the transfer from WordPress.com to our site or vice versa. Both the export and import are very simple as clicking a button.

However, it should be noted that this standard is not an Alternative method of backup (backups). Moreover supports only entries, categories, comments and custom fields (custom fields). Obviously, data from plugins can not be transferred, such as the tags.
